Terry is first and foremost a performer. He has been on and off the stage since elementary school. (If he didn't show up to class, the teachers didn't call his parents, they went to the school music room to find him!) Terry performed his way through college, beginning as a member of the Young Ambassadors at Brigham Young University. During this time, he sang, played and directed music with a number of groups, most notably at Osmond Studios in Orem, Utah. He moved home to Mesa, AZ to be close to family and continued his music eduction. All through his college years, Terry sang and performed with various groups and could be found on the stage of local theaters.
Terry continued his professional career as Music Director of The New Christy Minstrels and performed with the group world-wide. In 1987, following an extended USO tour to Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and the Pacific Islands, he took a performing break. During this break, the family's parish priest asked Terry to play music on weekends. One thing led to another and Terry began a new career in full-time, professional Music Ministry. Terry has been employed by the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix for the last 21 years, currently ministering at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Scottsdale.
Why a Music Studio?
Terry currently directs music at Desert Stages Theatre in Scottsdale and performs there as well. While working with the children and adult actors, he realized that he loves to help people find their singing voice. He enjoys the teaching challenge of discovering just the right image, the best exercise, or most suited approach necessary for each individual singer. He also understands their love of music and performance.
A Family Affair
Terry and his wife Ginny are the proud parents of a twelve year old daughter, Emily, and a mini-schnauzer named Jessi. Emily perfoms in the Children's Theatre at Desert Stages and is a Summer Camp Counselor-in-Training. Ginny is a Marketing Associate with MediServe, is a Desert Stages performer and volunteer as well. Jessi is a homebody who waits for Dad to get home! (Although occasionally you may see her at the Studio on a special day.)
